This website is designed to satisfy your goalkeeping needs by Shel Brodsgaard, the former National Teams Goalkeeper Coach for the Canadian Soccer Association (2000-2006).  The idea of specialized training for goalkeepers was introduced to Shel in his youth by his father, Kjeld Brodsgaard (a former amateur goalkeeper) and a host of local goalkeepers (Grant Darley & Gord Reading) from his hometown in Victoria, British Columbia. The passion these three shared for the position of goalkeeper, as well as the desire to educate and train youth inspired Shel in many ways from an early age.  In addition to working for the CSA, Shel has conducted goalkeeper development programs for community level coaches and goalkeepers of all ages across North America since Island Keeper Clinics was established in 1993.

IKC goalkeeper development services include club-based development programs, mentorship training, residential camps, summer camps, high performance training, elite residential goalkeeper training and development, match analysis and assistance with University (Canada) or College (USA) scholarships. Shel has also produced his own personal line of educational resources which you may choose from: the Guarding the Goal DVD Video; Guarding the Goal Instructional Book; Speed and Agility Training DVD Video; and Goals and Dreams which is a book celebrating the success of Canadian Women's Soccer.

2009 IKC High Performance Goalkeeper Training in Victoria, BC

IKC will start our fall goalkeeper development programs in Victoria, BC on Sunday, September 20, 2009. Due to a scheduling conflict with Hampton Park we will no longer be able to provide training for the Advanced Goalkeepers on Fridays. However, we have rented the field turf to run our programs, which means that we will start training on the full field for the duration of our program on Sunday nights. Youth Goalkeepers ages 9, 10, 11 years train from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Intermediate Level Goalkeepers ages 12, 13, 14 years also train from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. It is important for you to realize with the access to the full field we will run the youth group separate from the intermediate group even though they share the same time-slot. The Advanced Goalkeepers ages 15, 16, 17, 18 years train from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. As with all IKC programs, the IKC Staff will assess the skill level of the respective goalkeepers to ensure that they train in the appropriate program regardless of age. Further details regarding the cost and the schedule are available in the document 2009-2010 IKC High Performance Training Program provided below.
